Running back Knowshon Moreno is feeling better and should be ready to play Sunday at Cincinnati. He said he probably could have played in last Thursday’s preseason finale but it was smarter to sit out and heal from a knee injury suffered in the first preseason game, something Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said last week.
Moreno isn’t full speed yet, but close.
“I wouldn’t say 100 percent but I feel real good,” Moreno said. “Each day I’m getting better and we have a couple more days before the game so we’ll see how things go.”
The real question is how much Moreno will play. It’s tough to imagine he would start after appearing in only a handful of plays this preseason, but he should play some. But how much?
“I’m really not sure,” Moreno said. “Whether they need me to be, I’m going to be.”
Moreno will have to fight for carries with Correll Buckhalter, Peyton Hillis and perhaps LaMont Jordan, so there is little way to predict how many carries he will get in his debut. He did say if the coaching staff needed him to carry a heavy load, he would be willing.
“If that’s what they ask me, I can do that,” Moreno said. “But we have some backs here that can carry the rock also, and keep us fresh.”

[...] Knowshon Moreno declares himself ready for Week 1. This doesn’t exactly jive with what HC McDaniels has been saying, so keep an eye on this story as the week continues to progress. If he can go, Moreno would be a solid RB2/flex start against a suspect Bengals defense. [...]
